Hotel Henrietta opens in New Orleans
Hotel Henrietta recently opened its doors, offering a fresh take on the historic architecture of Uptown New Orleans.
A new five-storey, 40-room boutique hotel from New Orleans-based hospitality and real estate development companies, Sandstone and Formwork, the hotel serves as an extension of Sandstone’s Columns hotel, located just two streets away.
Local firm Farouki Farouki is behind the architecture – which features stepped arched openings and oversized balconies – as well as the interior design, which includes an eclectic mix of custom furniture. Upon entering the property, guests are invited into a reception area with a large marble island that serves as a check-in desk, cafe counter and cocktail bar.
Wall coverings by French designer Pierre Frey add texture to the space, which opens up into a lobby with a wood ceiling, decorative millwork and multiple seating areas with banquettes covered in custom fabric. Potted palm trees and handpicked vintage and commissioned art from local and global makers are layered throughout the space, while an adjacent colonnaded front porch and terrace features outdoor seating and two fire pits.
Guestrooms feature a color palette inspired by the historic mosaic tiles at Columns, custom millwork, velvet headboards and banquettes, as well as bathrooms with oversized showers, Waterworks fixtures, and marble tile and vanities. Select rooms are equipped with dishwashers, as well as Smeg refrigerators and microwaves.
A collaboration with local bakery Flour Moon Bagels sees the hotel serving up a selection of its bagels, schmears and bagel ‘tartines’ in the lobby lounge, while guests can also experience coffee from Columns’ new Avenue Room Coffee brand.
