IHG has announced that its Regent brand will debut in Santa Monica in summer 2024, set to become its new flagship property in the Americas.
Regent Santa Monica Beach will represent the first destination in the Americas for the reimagined Regent Hotels & Resorts brand, following a partnership with Andre Zotoff, Chief Executive Officer of ownership group Strategic Hotels & Resorts. Set along the California coastline, the resort will feature tranquil rooms and suites, a beachfront pool deck and a sprawling 10,000ft² Guerlain spa.
The project, with a budget exceeding $150 million, features designs by AvroKO and Wimberly Interiors that combine the glamour of Beverly Hills with the serenity of the coast. The property comprises 24 suites and 143 guestrooms, which begin at 720ft² and feature rainfall showers and double vanities. The resort will also offer two-storey 2,180ft² Atrium Suites, located on the second and third floors and complete with ocean views, while the eighth floor will hold the Santa Monica Presidential Suite, equipped with a game room, separate living room area and four Juliet balconies.
“The addition of Regent Santa Monica Beach to the Santa Monica communities promises to deliver an unprecedented experience for travellers and locals alike,” says Younes Atallah, General Manager of the resort. “With a commitment to distinguished, bespoke service alongside an alluring oceanfront location, we are eager to share this incredibly special property with the world and welcome guests to indulge in a modern evolution of traditional luxury.”
The resort’s signature restaurant Orla is a new concept developed in partnership with James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Mina, who will bring the zest and charm of the Mediterranean to the shores of Santa Monica. Alongside Mina, the resort will partner with celebrity entrepreneur and philanthropist Ayesha Curry and her burgeoning lifestyle brand, Sweet July, to offer guests bespoke products produced by Black-owned and women-owned brands, as well as an all-new menu inspired by Curry’s Jamaican roots, which will include Sweet July’s signature coffee, tea, pastries and desserts.
Following the successful openings of Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, and Regent Hong Kong, the opening of Regent Santa Monica Beach contributes to a new era for IHG Hotels & Resorts, marking a historic return of the Regent brand to Los Angeles.
