Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly set for Spring opening following £33 million refurbishment
Manchester Marriott Hotel Piccadilly is set to launch in Manchester this spring, marking the brand’s second opening in the city.
Situated next to Piccadilly train station, the hotel was acquired by Zetland Capital Partners in late 2021 under a management agreement with Hamilton Pyramid. Since then, a 33-million-pound refurbishment and rebranding project has seen the property transformed from Macdonald Hotel Manchester into the city’s flagship Marriott hotel.
The transformed property comprises 338 guestrooms alongside a restaurant and bar, function room, 11 meeting rooms and a 24/7 MClub Lounge. The property also offers 16 Panoramic Suites, with expansive views over Manchester’s skyline. Wellness amenities meanwhile include a gym and Elemis spa, with six treatment rooms and a thermal suite.
The building’s architecture showcases a striking, contemporary curved glass facade, while guestroom interiors incorporate earthy tones and contemporary decor, nodding also to the neighbourhood’s industrial and music heritage.
The hotel’s restaurant will be bistro-style, serving up ingredients sourced from across the North West, while a ground floor lounge and bar will be an additional casual F&B spot.
The property will be home to Manchester’s only Marriott brand exclusive, MClub Lounge – a unique club lounge space to relax, socialise or meet for business.
“We are excited to be part of this important renovation in the city, leading the way to bring the flagship Marriott brand to this grand hotel – grand in both innovative design and size; making it the largest hotel in Manchester city centre once complete,” says Stephen Rycroft, General Manager of the hotel. “With a planned launch for spring, we are really looking forward to sharing our elevated hospitality with experiences that are sure to captivate both business and leisure guests alike.”
