Meliá Hotels International opening first ME by Meliá in Asia Pacific
Meliá Hotels International has announced that its ME by Meliá brand will make its Asia Pacific debut in 2027.
Following the signing of an agreement with Guangzhou Aocheng Investment Company, the group will open ME Guangzhou in the city’s Huangpu Bay Business Circle.
Located at Guangzhou Macau Place, the hotel will comprise 120 rooms and suites, alongside culinary options that include an all-day dining restaurant, Mediterranean-style bistro and a rooftop bar. Ballrooms and meeting rooms will be available for events, while wellness will be taken care of through a spa and fitness centre.
“The signing of ME Guangzhou represents a glorious chapter for our brand,” says Ignacio Martín, Managing Director Asia Pacific, Meliá Hotels International. “As we continue to expand our footprint in China, it is our utmost pleasure to introduce the ME concept to the Chinese market, where we believe it will revolutionize the hospitality industry. We look forward to working closely with Guangzhou Aocheng Investment Company to curate exceptional products and services that cater to the diversified needs of modern luxury travellers in China.”
He Jinglin, Managing Director, Guangzhou Aocheng Investment Company, adds: “The agreement with Meliá Hotels International represents a significant step towards elevating the Guangzhou International Financial City-Huangpu Bay Business Circle to a world-class landmark business district. The business circle is expected to attract more foreign investments, augment its international commercial and trading functions, and establish itself as an integrated gateway.”
In addition to ME Guangzhou, the ME by Meliá brand is set to open at least four more hotels in 2023 and 2024 in Malaga, Malta, Lisbon and Guadalajara.
