Gran Meliá to expand footprint in Dubai
Meliá Hotels International is set to expand its presence in Dubai in Q4 2025, having signed a new Gran Meliá property in Port de La Mer, a luxury destination in the city’s Jumeirah One Beach area.
Built directly on the seafront, the property will comprise 380 guestooms and suites with ocean and city skyline views. The complex will also have direct marina access, event facilities to host up to 1,000 people, and wellness and fitness facilities endorsed by international partners. On the F&B front, Gran Meliá Dubai Jumeirah aspires to be a reference in the city, inviting diners to enjoy a selection of exclusive experiences and iconic brands from around the world.
Gran Meliá Dubai Jumeirah will the the brand’s first hotel in the United Arab Emirates, taking Gran Meliá’s portfolio to more than 10 countries. Gabriel Escarrer, President and CEO of Meliá Hotels International, states: “The signing of this fantastic hotel gives us a new opportunity to demonstrate our proven excellence in Dubai’s luxury segment. Our group is already firmly committed to this market. Port La Mer – Jumeirah is the perfect place to bring the exclusive interpretation of Gran Meliá’s Mediterranean luxury to a key market like Dubai.”
The new project is the result of a collaboration between Meliá Hotels International and Albwardy Investment, the group that owns the hotel and with which Meliá Hotels International already manages seven other properties including Gran Meliá Arusha; Meliá Zanzibar; Meliá Collection Serengeti Lodge; and the recent Meliá Collection Ngorongoro Lodge – all in Tanzania. In addition, the two companies have partnered on Gran Meliá Iguazu in Argentina; Meliá Collection London Kensington; and Meliá Collection Desert Palm, also in Dubai. Moreover, Meliá and Albwardy Investment are also preparing a future opening in Seychelles among others.
