Inside the redesigned Lux* Belle Mare, Mauritius
Mauritian hideaway Lux* Belle Mare will reopen its doors in October 2023, unveiling a new look after more than a year of renovations.
With architecture by Mauritian Jean-Francois Adam and interiors courtesy of Jean-Marc Tang, the refreshed property fuses striking new designs with its longstanding family ethos. Across the hotel, soothing shades of pastels, coral, greens and sand white take cues from the surroundings, bringing together minimalism and tropical design for an aesthetic that emulates the essence of island living.
The resort’s 174 suites and 12 villas encapsulate laid-back-living whilst retaining the island’s rich Mauritian heritage, resulting in spaces that work in harmony with the natural surroundings. With tables cast in reclaimed local sand, custom print wallpaper as an homage to nearby coral reefs, and seating in whitewashed wood with nautical rope details woven by local artisans, many elements reflect the heart of the location.
“I wanted to blend my expertise and local insights to create a unique tropical environment that elevates and inspires everyone,” says Tang. “Belle Mare is an incredible setting where nature is in perfect balance, and we wanted to showcase this throughout the design by inviting nature inside.”
Bringing back an array of F&B and wellness facilities, Lux* Belle Mare is also reopening with some new additional amenities, including a range of enriching conservation activities, as well as its own farm, supplying pesticide-free fresh vegetables, herbs and leafy greens.
