Heckfield Place, a Georgian family home turned boutique countryside getaway, has launched its new spa and wellness facilities, named The Bothy by Wildsmith. Lying beyond a secret door of the property’s original walled garden, the space has been designed to offer guests a holistic and integrated approach to wellbeing.
The new 17,000ft² spa boasts views of the Hampshire countryside, leaning into its surroundings to create a serene space grounded in nature. An evolution of the hotel’s initial wellbeing concept, The Little Bothy at Heckfield Place, the development comprises six treatment rooms – two of which are doubles – accompanied by two fitness rooms and a Movement Studio, as well as the Sun Room, an indoor/outdoor dining space offering a small plant-based menu.
Elsewhere, a chlorine-free space named The Waters uses ionisation and natural mineral ions of copper, silver, zinc, aluminium and gold to maximise benefits for guests, while the Oak Terrace is home to outdoor hydrotherapy and a sauna, steam room, temperature-and-mood-shifting Experiential Shower and a bucket shower of ice cold water.
The design of The Bothy by Wildsmith has been crafted with natural materials that ground it within its surroundings, like fossilised limestone floors and sink features, antique Hampshire bricks used as part of the original Bothy’s restoration, and 29,434 hand-laid tiles in The Waters.
All treatments in the new wellness space will incorporate products from skincare brand Wildsmith Skin, with each led by one of Heckfield Place’s Master Practitioners or resident therapists.
“The Bothy is the reknitting of all parts of the estate – it represents the vision of accepting and living by the natural cycles of seasons, appreciating its simplicity and supporting the harmony in which it brings,” comments Reka Seres-Erdei, Bothy Operations Director. “Whether it be a mindful walk in the woods, breathing in the scents of nature during a treatment, taking an invigorating cold dip in the Lower Lake in wintertime or spending time in the Market Garden picking from the land’s bounty used to create Wildsmith Skin products and the daily offerings of tea – these are the rituals of The Bothy.”
Beyond its latest spa offerings, Heckfield Place comprises 45 guestrooms and two signature restaurants, alongside an ancient arboretum, biodynamically certified garden and organic home farm.
