Laufen previews Smart Bathroom solutions at ISH
ISH 2023 saw Laufen unveil its forthcoming Smart bathroom solutions in Frankfurt, technology developed for water management and smart showering.
Laufen’s water management system seeks to make the process simple, smart and efficient. Intended to be used to manage public and semi-public sanitary facilities, the system uses IoT technology (Internet of Things) to control taps, showers and WCs, as well as external integrated urinal and shower controls.
The Smart Control sanitary app allows products to be monitored and controlled upon installation and throughout usage, facilitating quick diagnosis for any problems. The app also allows products to be tailored to usage patterns, thanks to its data collection capabilities, which can ultimately reduce costs and save water. A central control system connects all Laufen products wirelessly, with individual components able to communicate with the central system via Bluetooth – quickly notifying operators, for instance, of any issues and speeding up response times.
The second Smart bathroom system presented by Laufen was the Smart shower system, still in its development stage. A collaboration with designer Andreas Dimitriadis, the smart shower experience is controlled by the user via touchscreen. The shower consists of a horizontal wall panel with light tiles, a display, an illuminated storage box and various shower heads.
The heart of the system is a 12-inch display screen, which uses advanced touchscreen technology to allow the user to personalise their shower experience, adding sounds, images, lights and additional water elements. Users will also be able to connect their smartphone to the shower via Bluetooth, while developers are planning for hotel operators to be able to display information on-screen.
