Thompson Central Park New York has unveiled details for Upper Stories, a collection of 174 guestrooms and suites on the hotel’s higher floors with views over Manhattan and the iconic park beyond. Marking the completion of the brand’s planned redesigns since first opening the property in November 2021, the accommodations will offer guests exclusive in-room amenities, private access to the Upper Stories Lounge and personalised programming.

Appointed to floors 26 through 33, the Upper Stories have been designed by Stonehill Taylor with upgraded finishes, dark oak casework, walnut floors, and marble bathrooms and tables. Geometric sconces and large, framed artwork are richly layered above full-height black oak headboards, while upon arrival to the rooms, guests will find marble high-top tables with an ombre glass pendant suspended above, as well as hand-tufted rugs and sculptural brass tables.

“We are thrilled to welcome hotel guests and New Yorkers to experience Thompson Central Park New York in its truest essence this September as we unveil Upper Stories,” says Joel Rosen, President, at GFI Hospitality. “The accommodations crown the hotel and are set to impress travellers seeking show-stopping views and highly stylised interiors with luxurious amenities, discrete service and thoughtful programming.”

A first for the Thompson Hotels brand, Thompson Central Park New York will also debut the Upper Stories Lounge, exclusively frequented by Upper Stories guests and residents of the hotel. Perched over the atrium on the third floor, the lounge has been envisioned by Thomas Juul Hansen. The private space boasts sleek interiors with dark tones, warm textures and ample, comfortable lounge seating. Guests are welcomed with a private check-in experience and are offered access to an exclusive concierge for the duration of their stay. The lounge will serve breakfast spreads as well as light bites and sips throughout the day from a menu of seasonally inspired fare, re-imagined daily by the culinary teams. As a nod to the hotel’s love of jazz and New York City’s music history, the property has also tapped Victrola, an innovator in modern sounds and turntables since 1906, to introduce the Victrola Listening Lounge in the space, featuring an extensive collection of vinyl records.

In June 2022, Thompson Central Park New York introduced reimagined public spaces to the first floor of the building in lobby lounge Parker’s and a 36ft high grandiose atrium, also featuring interior elements by Juul Hansen. Parker’s is draped in a canopy of cascading foliage and elevated by a flood of natural light from central skylights. The walls are adorned with artwork by celebrated jazz photographers, while live jazz can be enjoyed thanks to a partnership with the Jazz Foundation of America. The space complements existing culinary offerings such as Burger Joint and Indian Accent. Additionally, the hotel has added a new fitness centre, and refined meeting and event spaces.
