The Peninsula to arrive in Istanbul in 2022
Set along the banks of the Bosphorus River – the meeting point of East and West in Turkey’s capital – in the historic Karaköy district, The Peninsula Istanbul will anchor a new waterfront revitalisation project called Galataport when it opens in 2022.
The development will include a promenade, museums and art galleries, as well as restaurants, boutiques and a cruise ship port. The heritage property is also set to be within walking distance of Istanbul’s iconic landmarks, including Galata Tower, Galata Bridge and the famous Sultanahmet District.
Characterised by classical-inspired architecture, the hotel itself will be home to 177 guestrooms and suites – including The Peninsula Suite – together with landscaped gardens and several swimming pools, one of which overlooks the Bosphorus. Guests can also savour local and international cuisine at a choice of restaurants, before indulging in the ancient Turkish tradition of hammam steam baths at The Peninsula Spa.
