Standard International has unveiled plans to expand its global footprint over the next four years, presenting a case for optimism in the hospitality industry amidst the ongoing challenges resulting from the pandemic.
The latest additions to the company’s growing portfolio include The Standard, Hua Hin, The Standard’s first resort in Thailand opening later this year, and The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon, the brand’s Asia flagship, which will open in 2022. The group has also announced plans to debut in Ibiza in 2022.
The three new properties will kick off a series of 10 additional landmark projects in highly-coveted markets around the world, from Singapore (2023) and Melbourne (2023) to Lisbon (2023), Dublin (2025), Brussels (2025) and even Las Vegas (2025).

With 178 guest rooms and 21 pool villas with beachfront access, The Standard, Hua Hin will be inspired by the brand’s first waterfront property, The Standard Spa Miami Beach, focused on wellness, bathing and its legendary pool scene. The project will also feature three culinary spaces: Lido Restaurant & Bar, Praça and The Juice Café.
Opening in 2022, The Standard, Bangkok Mahankhon will be the Asia flagship for the Standard brand. Housed within the King Power Mahanakhon Building, a 78-story mixed-use building that is one of the tallest in Thailand, the hotel will reflect the dynamic energy of the Thai capital.
Designed by Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon’s Hayon Studio, in collaboration with The Standard’s award-winning in-house design team, the project will comprise 155 guestrooms, penthouse, a terrace pool, fitness centre, meeting rooms and a dynamic variety of food, drink and nightlife venues, from The Parlor to the Tea Room and renowned Standard Grill, as well as Thailand’s first outpost of the acclaimed Mott 32 restaurant.
