The small peninsula country of Qatar has earned a prime position on the Middle Eastern tourist map, with a continuous stream of new hotel projects joining the ever-evolving Qatari skyline. The capital, Doha, has fast made a name for itself as both a cultural hotspot and an ideal layover destination.
According to pipeline data collected by Tophotelprojects, 33 projects totalling 8,562 rooms are currently in the works in Doha. Of the 33 new arrivals, 15 will join the five-star segment, while 16 will occupy the four-star category.
The database indicates that no fewer than 17 openings are scheduled to open this year, 12 are slated for 2022 and one more in on course to debut in 2023. There is also one project slated for 2025, with a further two still TBA.

Banyan Tree Doha
Slated to open later this year, Banyan tree Doha at La Cigale Mushaireb will mark the group’s first urban luxury resort in the Middle East. The resort will sit within the Doha Oasis project, a premier city destination featuring a luxury department store, an indoor experiential theme park and a cineplex. The 341-key project will feature the signature Banyan Tree Spa with a Rainforest hydrotherapy facility, Saffron fine-dining Thai restaurant and Vertigo, a 28-storey rooftop bar overlooking Doha’s panoramic city skyline.

Developed by Triple A in partnership with Katara Cultural Village, The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort – comprising 32 villas ranging from one to five bedrooms – will occupy a beachfront setting within the 247-acre Katara Cultural Village district. With a design that pays homage to the glories of Indian Mughal Architecture and a touch of Ottoman influence, the principal hotel building will house a lobby lounge with 180° views of the sea, an expansive spa and fitness facility, and rooms and suites with terraces and views over the Arabian Gulf and Doha skyline.
