The Langham, Boston will re-open its doors this June following a two-year, multi-million dollar renovation that has seen the property transformed into a new American classic in the heart of the city’s downtown.

“We are so excited to re-introduce Boston and the world beyond to The Langham,” says Managing Director Michele Grosso. “We have poured so much time and attention into the hotel since we closed in April 2019.”

With Dyer Brown as the architect of record, The Langham enlisted Richmond International to oversee the new design scheme and curate the art collection, both of which reflect the building’s background as the former Federal Reserve Bank of Boston – part of the hotel’s new programming will include a daily Heritage Tour.

“We are very proud to be re-opening The Langham, Boston. With its historic location, original Wyeth murals and new collection of specially curated artworks, as well as the addition of The Langham Club, the property will be the epitome of a new American classic,” comments Stefan Leser, CEO of Langham Hospitality Group.

“The hotel will be re-imagined with a modern interpretation of warm American service combined with the European hospitality for which The Langham brand is so well-known. These will come together to ensure it will be the top hotel in Boston, presenting new world luxury in a grand, heritage landmark building.”

The journey begins in a new luxurious lobby, decorated in jewel tones, with a cosy fireplace, ample seating, and high-design concierge area and check-in desk. Upstairs, the completely redesigned guestrooms and suites will all feature marble-clad bathrooms, New England-inspired décor and, in the case of the hotel’s signature Loft Suites, two-storey brass-embossed windows accenting the bi-level living and sleeping quarters that were left from the building’s days as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. The Chairman’s Suite, an opulent penthouse featuring a king bedroom, hardwood floors, a living room complete with a baby grand piano and a dining room that seats eight people, promises to be one of the best of its kind in Boston.

The Langham’s newly refurbished function spaces include a sophisticated update to The Governor’s Room, a boardroom with an oak table featuring bronze detail and leather panel inserts, plaid carpeting and an array of historic photos of the building. Elsewhere, The Wyeth Room – home to the N.C. Wyeth murals originally commissioned by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston depicting the history of the banking system of the United States – will continue as a venue for intimate weddings and other corporate and social events, while the new Lincoln Ballroom, which can accommodate 175 guests, will feature natural light by way of a skylight flanked by chandeliers, and windows in its pre-function space overlooking Norman B. Leventhal Park, a city-centre green space with a garden trellis, which itself can be used as an idyllic location for wedding photos.

For foodies and cocktail aficionados, The Fed is a brand-new destination bar encompassing an outdoor terrace and a British cocktail pub menu with a New England twist. Grana meanwhile will offer an authentic Italian dining experience set in the former grand hall of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, with soaring ceilings, ornate chandeliers and lush velvet banquettes. Its menu of approachable and shareable Italian dishes for breakfast, lunch and weekend brunch will be prepared by Executive Chef Stephen Bukoff, who will also oversee the menu at The Fed as well as the culinary offerings throughout the rest of the hotel.

Later this fall, The Langham Club – a signature of The Langham Hotels & Resorts brand – will open with a private space where guests who have purchased Club Access can meet, eat and socialise, serving multiple F&B offerings throughout the day. A brand-new pool, hot tub and fitness centre are in the works too.
