Edwardian Hotels London has announced that its first “super boutique” hotel, The Londoner, will open its doors in April 2021.
Situated in Leicester Square within the heart of the West End, the 16-storey hotel will comprise 350 guestrooms, suites and a tower penthouse with panoramic views, two private screening rooms, six F&B venues, a ballroom, meeting spaces, as well a gym and wellness centre.
Yabu Pushelberg, the world-renowned design firm behind the Four Seasons hotel in Downtown Manhattan New York, has been appointed to lead the interiors. The contemporary aesthetic will complement the 16-storey architecture by Woods Bagot, known for the New York Manhatta restaurant and the Adelaide Contemporary. The guestrooms and suites will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, detailing and finishings offset by curated artworks and the latest technology.
The food and beverage offering will include: the hotel’s signature restaurant which evolves from a cosy daytime meeting spot to a vibrant dinner spot in the evening; a contemporary Japanese lounge bar with a rooftop terrace and fire pit; and a ground floor tavern offering a specially curated drinks menu and daily unplugged music performances. There will also be a ‘hotel guests only’ area on the first floor, comprising three distinct places.
Charles Oak, Hotel Director of The Londoner, comments: “We hope that The Londoner will stand as a beacon of hope for London’s ever resilient hospitality industry and are proud to be recruiting a world class task force made up of the city’s most hardworking and talented individuals. Together, we are looking forward to opening our doors in the Spring and welcoming guests from all over to their new home from home, in the heart of the capital’s most vibrant neighbourhood.”
As a new-build, The Londoner seeks to employ pioneering methods of sustainable luxury. A first for the hospitality sector, the new hotel has secured a £175 million Green Loan from HSBC UK, which will be used to ensure the hotel exceeds the BREEAM Excellent category in building environmental and sustainable performance.
As one of the UK’s largest privately owned hotel groups, Edwardian Hotels London owns and operates The May Fair, The Edwardian Manchester, both part of premium lifestyle brand Radisson Collection, 10 Radisson Blu Edwardian hotels across London and a range of luxury restaurant and bar brands, including the award-winning Kitchen concept restaurants; May Fair Kitchen, Bloomsbury Street Kitchen, Peter Street Kitchen, Leicester Square Kitchen, Monmouth Kitchen and May Fair Bar.
