Iniala Harbour House and Residences, Malta’s newest five-star luxury hotel, is set to open in April 2021.
Located on the prestigious and historic St. Barbara Bastion, the 23-key project is spread across four townhouses and their ancient vaults, dating back to the 1600s.
The hotel interiors are a collaboration between three studios: A-Cero from Spain, Autoban from Turkey and Malta’s DAAA HAUS. From sophisticated minimalism to understated Baroque styles, the result is a compendium of innovative design concepts that subtly reflect Valletta’s unique heritage and charm.
Each of the 23 guestrooms and suites – varying from 23 square metre deluxe rooms to four signature suites, The Residences, measuring up to 162 square metres – are adorned with art by both local and international artists, as well as patterns, colours and elegance while retaining their own design narrative. Most rooms and suites have a private balcony, though some suites feature their own plunge pool.
The property also boasts a bespoke guesthouse – The Hideaway – spread over five floors with each room and suite set on its own level with unparalleled sea views.
The food and beverage concept, realised by Executive Chef Andrew Borg, is a rooftop restaurant entitled ION – The Harbour. The fine dining experience will serve bespoke breakfasts with a versatile mix of seasonal, regional and international signature dishes, as well as a lunch and dinner offering. Tweaked daily, the dinner menu will offer a four-course à la carte experience – each dish will start from the most unlikely ingredient, which is carefully chosen based on the ever-changing condition of the produce available.
In addition to accommodation and dining spaces, the hotel also features a fitness suite and the Iniala Spa which includes a heated indoor pool, treatment rooms, steam room, sauna and relaxation area situated in the vaults below.
Founder of the Iniala Group, Mark Weingard values excellent service in his projects – there will be a dedicated team of staff on hand at Iniala Harbour House and Residences, including butlers.
“The staff will be mainly local so will already know the area like the back of their hand,” explains Mark Weingard. “Each member of staff will also have to pass the ‘Knowledge Test’ which includes questions on the local area, its art and history, the country’s language, food and drink, public transport and much more. They will be the experts of Malta.”
The Iniala Group is a collection of uniquely designed luxury hotels currently located in Malta and Thailand.
