Walker Hotel Tribeca arrives in New York
Walker Hotel Tribeca has opened its doors in New York City’s historic Tribeca neighbourhood. Built in 1899 in the Renaissance Revival style, the hotel is spread across 10 storeys and comprises 171 guestrooms and six F&B venues. The rooms – ranging from lofted queen sizes to corner kings – are indicative of the New York of old, boasting marble baths, rain showers, tobacco leather professor chairs, herringbone wooden floors, crisp linens and large, loft-style windows affording views of the midtown or downtown skyline.
Guests can check-in at either a traditional desk downstairs or in the lobby above, which features a mix of mid-century and classic furniture, lush textiles and contemporary light fixtures, and is flanked by a marble bar, fireplace and a rosewood library with Borsani shelving. Seating throughout includes Mogensen sofas, Pierre Jeanneret loungers, and Philippe Bestenheider’s Lui 5 chairs – all upholstered and reimagined in a modern palette of Schumacher velvets, ikats and linens.
Meanwhile, the hotel’s restaurant will seat up to 45 guests and serve a seasonal, vegetable-forward menu amidst a light-filled dining room with an elegant, modern aesthetic, woven together by a palette of soft earth tones and natural materials such as stone tile, marble and plaster. Other F&B outlets include The Walker Lobby – a 50-cover lounge with a bar programme and small menu of more casual plates; The Walker Reading Room – a 24-seat venue offering guests the same fare as the lounge but in a more peaceful, library-like setting; the Subterranean Cocktail Bar, designed by John McCormick Design; and The Walker Terrace – a bar on the 11th floor rooftop.
