Design Hotel Levi slated for December 2019 opening
Design Hotel Levi, the largest hotel project in the Arctic region, is set to open in December this year.
The 77-key property, designed by architect Pave Mikkonen, will have a particular focus on Arctic nature, Nordic art and Finnish design, with artwork for the hotel sourced from local artists such as sculptor Essi Korva and photographer Kaisa Sirén, who provided abstract photography for murals, partitions and shower walls.
The building’s roof blends into the fell highland landscape with the exterior build of greying Lapland pinewood and a reception area of natural stone. Locally sourced wood, natural stone and copper will also be incorporated into the design.
“We wanted to create something new and thrilling for the area,” comments Sanna Leinonen, CEO of Levi Hotel Spa Resorts. “A hotel which really stands out from what the region already offers; in total contrast to the lodge-style accommodation you traditionally find in the area.”
Sitting at the foot of Levi Ski Resort slopes in the centre of Levi Village, the hotel conveniently grants guests access to its sister hotel Levi Hotel Spa Resort’s spa, a host of restaurants and other extensive facilities.
The on-site fine dining restaurant Kekäle will serve breakfast and dinner and offer an open charcoal kitchen serving seasonal Arctic flavours. A choice of three other restaurants is also available including a pizza restaurant as well as the Joiku music bar.
