Muuto launches first grand lounge chair

Muuto has announced the release of its first grand lounge chair. Designed by Anderssen & Voll, the Doze Lounge Chair references both Scandinavian and 1970s design elements, and features expressive folds and lines across its large back and armrests.

Slender legs have been embedded in steel for a light, hovering profile, whilst a Daze Ottoman can be added to the set for a complementary match. Both lounge chair and ottoman are available in a range of textile upholsteries, allowing for customisation to suit a range of spaces.

”Scandinavia has a long tradition of extensively comfortable lounge chairs,” explains Anderssen & Voll. “At the heart of our design heritage lies the versatile concept of comfort. As such, the idea of creating a grand lounge chair came very natural to us. The visual references of the Doze Lounge Chair are however derived from the modern and clear lines of the Golden Age in Danish design, while at the same time being informed by some of our favourite designs of the 1970’s. To us, the characteristically large and sheltering back that embraces the soft seat creates a combination of the Scandinavian design ethos and the lines of 1970’s objects in a way that we find truly refreshing.”

The Doze Lounge Chair Is part of a new wave of releases from Muuto. Recently debuted products include the Echo Pouf – again designed by the Oslo-based A&V – as well as the Dimitri Bähler-designed Attach Coat Hook and Benjamin Hubert-designed Strand Pendant Lamp. The brand has also extended the colours and size options for a wide collection of existing products including the Halves Side Table, Leaf Table & Floor Lamp and Folded Shelves.
