The Menhaden opens its doors on Long Island
The Menhaden – a 16 key boutique hotel in the heart of Greenport Village, Long Island – has announced its opening.
Named after the local Menhaden fish, the hotel’s design seeks to pay homage to Greenport’s fishing legacy. The rooftop terrace – complete with a bar, firepits and lounge seating – provides views onto the harbour, whilst nautical artefacts are woven throughout the public spaces, including bottles, bricks, horseshoes and a mast from one of the town’s storied whaling ships.
Guestrooms are designed to be bright and airy, combining a neutral palette with wooden accents and greenery. Furnishings from Restoration Hardware and high thread-count linens are present for a premium finish. The Menhaden’s commitment to environmental consciousness has also seen the use of sustainable building materials and energy-efficient appliances throughout its construction.
The F&B programme features The Merchant’s Wife – a small-plates restaurant designed with moody décor and low-slung seating – as well as a grab-and-go café. Greenport’s renowned dining scene also places the hotel in close proximity with a selection of other high-end restaurants.
