Hoshino Resorts makes Taiwanese debut
Japanese hospitality brand Hoshino Resorts has announced the opening of Hoshinoya Guguan in Taichung, Taiwan, marking the company’s first luxury hot spring resort in the country.
Located on the outskirts of the Taichung hot spring valley, the resort rises up from a plateau surrounded by forests and mountains. Each of its 50 guestrooms feature an outdoor hot spring bath, fed by the area’s natural waters which rush down Xueshan into the Dajia River to be heated by nature and become hot springs.
The hotel will also offer spa treatments with views of the hotel’s water garden, plus shared hot spring baths, a swimming pool, a restaurant serving traditional Japanese cuisine and an outdoor terrace.
Taichung, on the western side of central Taiwan, is a two-hour drive from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. The hotel is also accessible from Taipei via train and a 90-minute transfer from Taichung’s rail terminus. The opening of Hoshinoya Guguan follows the reveal of Hoshinoya Bali, which opened in Ubud in 2017.
Hoshinoya is Hoshino Resorts’ luxury flagship brand, with seven properties including five in Japan, one in Bali, and the newest in Taiwan. Each hotel seeks to provide an authentic Japanese experience for guests by way of an interpretation of the traditional Ryokan, with modern comfort and contemporary Japanese design combining with the country’s distinctive hospitality approach and a rural location. Key to all its hotels is the hospitality concept of Omotenashi, with an emphasis on local culture and traditions.
