Belmond unveils new property in Chelsea

Belmond has announced that Belmond Cadogan Hotel, a 54-key property located between London’s fashionable districts of Chelsea and Knightsbridge, will open in February. With architectural leadership by Blair Associates, Belmond has carefully preserved the legacy of the property with a sensitive restoration of five 1800s Queen Anne-Style buildings.

London-based practices Russell Sage Studio and GA Design International were tasked with the interiors – the former designing the restaurant and bar spaces and the latter responsible for the lobby and guestrooms – which reflect a modern British style and draw inspiration from the hotel’s original features, historic former residents such as Oscar Wilde and Lillie Langtry, and the bequest of Irish physician Hans Sloane.

Meanwhile, Chef Patron Adam Handling will oversee the culinary offering including standalone restaurant – Adam Handling, Chelsea. The chef’s vision will mirror his sustainable approach and showcase modern British cuisine with a zero-waste ethos.

Guests will also have access to the Cadogan Place gardens (one of Chelsea’s largest garden squares and once site of the 18th century London Botanic Gardens), while for complete privacy a residential entrance is accessible via Pony Street.

The property’s General Manager, Klaus Kabelitz, has previously worked with Dorchester Collection, Claridge’s and The Berkeley.
