Hotel Suggati looks to put Mawlamyaing on the map
Hotel Suggati, a 72-key property in Myanmar’s Mon State capital Mawlamyaing, has announced a December opening date. Designed by US architect Daniel West and owned by Memories Group, the waterfront project features panoramic views over the Thanlwin River and amenities including conference rooms, working spaces and a fitness centre spread across five storeys.
Elsewhere, Hotel Sugatti’s F&B programme will incorporate a restaurant specialising in both Burmese and Western cuisine, as well as French pastries.
General Manager Leila Nortier will take the reins after three years at another Memories resort in nearby Hpa-an. Nortier brings a decade of experience in F&B, including stints at the Four Seasons in Geneva, the St. Regis Singapore, and working under a 2-Michelin-star chef at the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai.
“We want to put Mawlamyaing on the map,” Nortier says of the port city that lies 300km southeast of Yangon. “The Suggati is a three-star hotel, but we are aiming to offer five-star service.”
