Rosewood to open in Munich
Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has been appointed by German real estate company Bayerische Hausbau to manage Rosewood Munich, which will open in early 2023 as the
brand’s first property in Germany and seventh property in Europe.
Housed in two historical buildings comprised of the former headquarters of the State Bank of Bavaria and the adjacent Palais Neuhaus-Preysing, a former aristocratic residence, Rosewood Munich will be situated on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse. In the heart of the city centre, the hotel will be within walking distance of Marienplatz Square, the Residenz City Palace, Bavarian State Opera, and the Maximilian- and Theatinerstraße shopping districts.
The 132-key development will blend traditional German architecture with modern and contemporary elements, with guestrooms and suites designed to complement the property’s original façade and iconic stairways, which remain preserved and contribute to Munich’s ensemble of historical buildings.
Elsewhere, a lobby lounge and two distinct dining venues will include a full service restaurant and bar, while a full-service spa houses five treatments rooms, an indoor pool and fitness area. The hotel’s meetings and events spaces are suitable for private gatherings and conferences, and can accommodate for up to 400 people.
“With its rich history and distinct culture, Munich is an ideal destination for Rosewood’s ever-expanding global portfolio, and we are thrilled to bring our guiding ‘A Sense of Place’ philosophy to this dynamic city,” comments Sonia Cheng, Chief Executive Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “Combining the long standing traditions and heritage of Bavaria with the dynamism of modern Germany, Munich offers guests a unique glimpse into the distinct character of the region and gifts all who visit access to a fascinating European adventure, making it the perfect destination for Rosewood’s affluential explorers seeking authentic and meaningful travel experiences.”
Hermann Brandstetter, CFO Bayerische Hausbau, adds: “We are pleased to have gained an internationally renowned partner for our project in Rosewood Hotels & Resorts. The objective of the project is to offer the city an entirely new hotel experience: a hotel in the most exclusive hotel segment that will provide a contemporary interpretation of the historical charm of the buildings.
“We want to enhance the historical part of Munich with a unique hotel concept and open the doors of the buildings, with their unmistakable historical charm, to both international guests and the people of Munich – the restaurant, the bar and the spa will, of course, also extend a warm welcome to Munich’s residents.”
Rosewood Munich will join the group’s European portfolio comprising Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, Rosewood London, and the newly reopened Hôtel de Crillon in Paris. Additional upcoming properties include Rosewood Vienna, Rosewood Edinburgh, and Rosewood Hotel, Grosvenor Square in London.
