VIDEO: The Ned crowned European hotel of the year.
This year’s AHEAD Europe – held at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, London, on 20 November – saw London’s own The Ned, a 252-key reimagining of Sir Edward Lutyens’ historic Midland Bank, take home four awards including the coveted AHEAD Europe Hotel of the Year title.
Sleeper’s video partner Dezeen spoke to Alice Lund, one of the designers behind The Ned’s distinctive aesthetic, about the process prior to the ceremony, which also saw the project pick up awards in the Event Spaces, Restaurant, and Spa & Wellness categories.
Members club Soho House and Sydell Group were behind the expansive property, which features nine restaurants and six private event spaces alongside a spa, gym, rooftop pool and private club.
With renovations to the Grade-I-listed building overseen by EPR Architects, and interiors designed by Soho House’s in-house team, the project blends grandeur, faithful restoration and contemporary sensibility for a hotel judges described as “an incredible achievement from vision to implementation to operation.”
