The Murray, Hong Kong nears completion

Niccolo Hotels has announced that its new flagship property, The Murray, Hong Kong, is set to open in late 2017 as part of the local government’s Conserving Central Project.

The 336-key property will be situated within the historic Murray building, a tall white landmark structure bearing distinctive arches and recessed windows originally built in 1969, with Foster & Partners tasked with the hotel’s design. Positioned between the central business district and Hong Kong Park, The Murray seeks to offer a sophisticated, urban sanctuary in the heart of the city.

Amenities include a rooftop bar with views of the city and a series of signature restaurants. British-born hotelier Duncan Palmer has been appointed as Managing Director, bringing with him years of experience ha brands such as The Savoy, The Connaught, Mandarin Oriental and Langham Hotels amongst others.

“I am quietly confident this will become the preferred hotel in Hong Kong for visiting dignitaries, captains of industry and leaders in style,” Palmer comments. “They will appreciate the sophisticated and international standard of hospitality that the Niccolo brand delivers.”

The first hotel under the Niccolo brand, the Niccolo Chengdu, opened in April 2015 as part of the International Finance Square (IFS) a mixed-use retail and commercial centre. The Niccolo Hotels brand was conceived and designed to cater to the growing maturity of China’s luxury hotel sector.

Dr. Jennifer Cronin, President of Niccolo Hotels, adds: “The Chengdu property is a great success and we are very excited to be able to announce another even more exciting landmark project for Hong Kong. The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel, Hong Kong will certainly establish our Niccolo brand and the excellence it stands for firmly in the minds of international travellers.”
