Hotel Le Bailli de Suffren renovated
Hotel Le Bailli de Suffren will reopen its doors this May, following a series of renovations by Interior designer François Champsaur which gifted the 55-key property with a geographically inspired design scheme that incorporates a wealth of natural light.
Featuring natural materials including redwood and pine throughout, the renovations seek to reinstate the southern spirit of the 20th century structure, whilst complementary elements including terracotta, ceramic, cotton and wicker, create a gentle, poetic ambiance.
Blue ceilings echo the sky and sea beyond, while a wooden frame around the large guestroom window accentuates the views and white cotton stonewashed curtains add a refreshing touch to the space. Details such as royal blue bespoke armchairs and artwork accompany the palette, whilst terraces feature two Vincent Sheppard chairs alongside two retro coffee tables. The bathroom design in wood, meanwhile, evokes a rustic cabin feel, and the bay window overlooking the terrace offers expansive views of the horizon.
Elsewhere, the hotel’s new reception desk is constructed from solid wood with enamelled lava stone legs and terracotta plantation shutters designed by pottery manufacturer Ravel, offering shade in front of the large bay windows. Within the refurbished bar space, wherein Champsaur has removed the second floor to create double-height ceilings, hangs a terracotta trellised panel designed by Patricia Urquiola.
Featuring three restaurants – Loup de Mer, La Piscine and L’Escale – alongside a botanical garden, spa, heated fresh-water swimming pool and private beach, the reopening of Hotel Le Bailli de Suffren provides travellers and locals alike with a tranquil coastal destination.
