Ace Chicago reveals partnerships

Ace Hotel Chicago, opening 1 September, is now accepting reservations, with a portion of all guestroom bookings going to local community partners.

The three chosen organisations — Little Black Pearl, Young Chicago Authors and 826CHI — all focus on the empowerment and social development of young talents in Chicago. Little Black Pearl exposes urban youth to art and culture, educating them about profitable connections between art and business. Young Chicago Authors, home of Louder Than A Bomb: The Chicago Youth Poetry Festival, focuses on transforming the lives of young people by cultivating their voices through writing, publication and performance education. While 826CHI supports students with creative and expository writing skills, helping teachers inspire young people to write. The opening marks the beginning of a close partnership with these organisations, and others in the city

Kelly Sawdon, Partner, Chief Brand Officer, Ace Hotel and Atelier Ace, comments: “Ace Hotel started with a simple goal to support artists and musicians, and to act as a platform for cultural exchange with the local community. As we’ve grown, we’ve started to think about our impact on a larger scale. We have a unique opportunity to bring about positive social change in the cities we inhabit, and we want to do that with organisations that have long been invested in Chicago.”

The 159-key hotel, designed by Los Angeles-based design studio Commune, draws influence from Chicago design figures including Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Bertrand Goldberg, Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Netsch, and has worked collaboratively with a host of local and regional students, artists, designers and retailers to create a hotel that celebrates the spirit of the city.

Ace Hotel Chicago will offer a full-service restaurant and bar, as well as 24-hour room service and further collaborations with a soon-to-be-announced local partner. Its rooftop and terrace will offer views of the cityscape, and guestrooms will include free WiFi, minibars with locally stocked goods, and a curated newspaper and magazine selection.

The launch of Ace Hotel Chicago follows recent Ace Hotel openings in Seattle, Portland, New York, Palm Springs, Downtown Los Angeles, London, Pittsburgh and New Orleans.
