Anantara prepares European debut
Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, has announced the launch of Anantara Vilamoura, its first property in Europe. Set to open 1 April 2017, the 280-key hotel is located along southern Portugal’s Algarve coast.
Europe’s first Anantara resort will offer a tranquil retreat overlooking the Arnold Palmer designed Oceânico golf course. Situated 15 minutes from Faro International Airport and a five-minute drive from the glamour of Vilamoura, the resort is currently operating as Tivoli Victoria, with a number of key renovations being undertaken prior to the relaunch. The refurbishment process has seen changes made to the main lobby, the Anantara Spa and the gym.
For holidays with families and friends, most guestrooms are interconnecting, whilst a new luxury Family Suite category will accommodate up to four guests. Further, the two-bedroom Anantara Suite will offer a terrace with its own private dining area, Jacuzzi and sundeck. Elsewhere, guests will be able to enjoy the resort’s four swimming pools, floodlit tennis courts and a fitness centre. The rebranded Anantara Spa will offer signature Ayurveda treatments and Mediterranean therapies with a view of golf greens.
Six restaurants and bars will exemplify Anantara’s passion for indigenous flair, with facilities including Emo, headed up by executive chef Bruno Viegas. Emo will serve up a reinterpretation of Algarve’s native terrior cuisine and award winning Portuguese wines, whilst Ria serves local catches, sourced from the secluded Ria Formosa natural eco-system. At the Victoria restaurant, dinner buffets rotate nightly with a different chef crafting dishes from their home region or country, meanwhile the Raw Bar specialises in ceviche and carpaccios.
The resort will further offer settings and venues for all types of events – from VIP dinners and weddings, to product launches and large scale conferences. The stand-alone conference centre has an 800-person capacity across eight versatile rooms, most with natural light, and offers direct access for both delegates and set up vehicles, as well as to the hotel car park.
Famed as one of Europe’s most sought-after holiday destinations, this southernmost region of Portugal boasts a coastline of beaches, coves and cliffs, as well as olive groves, wineries and golf courses. Vilamoura itself blends a rich cultural history with the cosmopolitan allures of a yacht marina, and features a selection of designer boutiques and vibrant nightlife destinations.
