Janus et Cie launches new collection
Janus et Cie has launched its new Spring 2017 collection, featuring new offerings including an extensive range of interior rattan, the Sand Point collection of 76 performance textiles, and numerous outdoor collections in a variety of styles and materials.
Part of the new slate of releases is the Guava Armchair, designed by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy. Named after the fruit, the seat features an organic, enveloping back that emulates the shape of the guava fruit when cut in half.
Diaz-Azcuy comments: “For a long time, I have been trying to conceive of a chair suitable for dining and lounging. Sitting and lounging are quite different. I’m so happy to finally strike this elusive balance with the Guava chair. We even constructed the seat so that it could be used with or without a cushion, and the back to resemble a basket, for an inviting experience.”
Guava’s satin powder coated steel frame enables the chair to have a small footprint while maintaining strength in construction. The premium rattan seat and back is made by hand with a herringbone weave and available in any of the eight rattan stains or painted finishes including concorde, coriander, ebony, grey wash, papyrus, sequoia, sycamore.
With its mix of metal and rattan—and its finish options within those materials—Guava is versatile in style and can adapt to a variety of design schemes.
