Puro reveals Gdansk extenstion

Puro Hotels has announced the reopening of the newly renovated and extended Puro Gdansk, an urban hotel situated on the Baltic coast. With the extension complete, the hotel will offer 211 guestrooms, including 9 contemporary residential style suites. Situated in the heart of Gdansk, the hotel adds a refined modern hospitality destination to the Polish city.

The extension has been designed by London-based interior designers DeSallesFlint, and draws inspiration from Granary Island’s historic grain warehouses. Upon entering Puro Gdansk, guests will be greeted by an eight story high atrium. From there, they can relax by the fire with a novel from the carefully curated book collection, find a cosy corner to work, or follow the narrative of the surrounding art collection.

The design of the new spaces incorporates materials including linen, wool, cotton and leather, whilst light brass timber sits comfortably with a bright, bold colour palette inspired by the Gdansk’s old city buildings. Furniture has been sourced from a number of Puro Hotels’ long-term partners including Moroso, Carl Hansen & Son, Gubi, Magis, Vitra, Kettal, and Paola Lenti. The hotel’s lighting scheme has been created by Buster & Punch, Foscarini, and features additional bespoke designs by DeSallesFlint.

Alongside its existing gastro-bar, Ink, the extension will feature a restaurant on the ground floor, a vibrant rooftop bar and a terrace offering views of both the old city and the Gdansk shipyard. Elsewhere, Prisma Spa, a new addition to the Puro brand, will aim to boost the physical and mental wellbeing of guests and locals.

London based curator Double Decker has composed the property’s artwork collection, which focuses on both the international and local art scene, and features emerging and established artists alike. Here, guests will find a variety of mediums and pieces including objects from designer Maria Jeglinska, shipyard images by Michal Szlaga, aerial photography from Kacper Kowlaski, ceramic artefacts from Olga Milczynska, and paintings by students from Gdansk’s Academy of Arts, under the tutelage of Anna Krolikiewicz.
