Bette announces Hard and Soft concept

German steel and enamel specialist Bette has announced an innovative new bath design to feature as part of their Hard and Soft concept.

In partnership with Tesseraux and Partner design studio, Bette aims to redefine opulence in the bathroom. The company’s design concept features a bath that will combine the typical robust steel enamel tub with contrasting fabric panels.

With a new generation of functional fabrics, the material will be extremely robust, easy-care, and water, mould and climate resistant. The fabrics are currently used for outdoor furniture; the Bette design concept intends to demonstrate the fabrics potential within the bathroom also.

“Although the bath is so far only a design concept, we have already been able to overcome the basic challenges,” says Thilo C. Pahl, Managing Partner at Bette.

Pahl suggests: “During development, it was important for us to give our ideas free rein and redefine the bath area because we want to create the awareness for a new comfort in the bathroom.”

The bath body is made traditionally from fine steel enamel, while the bath apron is cushioned and covered with woven material by fabric specialist JAB Anstoetz. A shadow gap around 30mm in height is located underneath the bath structure so the fabric does not extend as far as the floor, avoiding edges where dirt could collect. Meanwhile, a stable, stainless steel frame provides the necessary bearing capacity due to the weight of the bath when full.

Designer Dominik Tesseraux concludes: “The quality of time spent in the bathroom is becoming increasingly important, because this is where we expend a lot of quality time on care, recovery and relaxation. People want to feel as much at home in the bathroom as they do in their living room.”
