The Neighbourhood animates EHDA
The European Hotel Design Awards 2015 hosted some of the industry’s leading interior designers, architects and hotel operators for a celebration of exceptional hotel design and architecture.
Setting the scene and theme, a short animation inspired by the Grand and Glam hotels of Europe was played to a room of over 800 attendees, offering a fun and fanciful take on the process leading up to the event.
Creative agency, The Neighbourhood worked alongside EHDA to complete a short animation based on a series of catastrophic events combined with an element of play, weaving in the prize assets of the coveted award trophies. Various scenarios were intertwined, utilising characters found during the awards evening such as patrons, waiters and of course, hotel staff.
The Neighbourhood approached the animation from a storytelling point of view, exploring how to engage attendees and bringing the Grand theme to life. “Through an immersive discovery experience, we understood that bringing the content to life was the best way to make EHDA a truly unique event that was long lasting,” said Jessy Gill, The Neighbourhood.
“We love the direction and artistic styling of the theme, so we worked on an animatic route that brought characters to life as well as playing on the theatrics of the night so that it was a constant point of interaction and engagement.”
The movie proved to tie the theme and purpose of the evening together well, with Gill concluding: “Storytelling is a big part of what we do, and we brought the event to life with a story rooted in a great theme – Grand and Glam hotels of Europe.”
