Decorex focuses on new exhibitors
As Decorex International nears, the trade show looks to highlight the new manufacturers attending this year’s event, which takes place from 20-23 September at Syon Park, London.
Each year over 30% of the 400 exhibitors to Decorex are new, and 2015 is no exception. From furniture, lighting and fabrics, to flooring, tableware and decorative accessories, visitors have the opportunity to see the latest collections the design industry has to offer, from both well-established international brands and new talent.
This year sees 17 Patterns launch its inaugural collection of wallpaper, co-created by a selection of predominantly British artists and designers, while Tektura Wallcoverings will showcase its range of colourful, patterned and textured contract wall-coverings. Bodo Sperlein will also launch its ‘Contour Collection’ of tables and chairs. The complex pieces are CNC machined and then worked by hand, enabling previously unimaginable sweeping forms to become reality.
New talent includes award-winning avant-garde textiles label, BeatWoven, and furniture designer Daniel Heath. BeatWoven uses bespoke audio technology to reveal the unseen geometric patterns created by sound and music, fused with the traditional craft of weaving, while Daniel Heath will be launching the Astoria coffee table, new Welsh slate tile designs, and a range of wallpapers.
Furthermore, one of England’s last working trimming weavers, Jessica Light, will present The Ceylon Collection, a selection of complex hand-made and hand-woven passementerie made from horsehair, rayon and cotton, inspired by The Grand Tour. Light will also be collaborating with furniture designer Liam Treanor and upholsterer and third generation chair caner, Rachael South, to produce the Thales Bench, a seat to sit and contemplate.
Other highlights will include French company Petite Friture, who will show three new designs: the Cherry pendant lamps, the Nubilo armchair and the Curiosity decorative plate. Felt will show a range of new and vintage rugs and cushions from the remote Tien Shan Mountains in Kyrgyzstan, and Charles Burnard, an interiors brand concentrating on a mix of new, bespoke and antiques will also feature at the event.
