New Chief Sustainability officer
International design and architecture firm Perkins Eastman has announced that Lance Hosey, has joined the firm as its newest Principal and its first Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), as well as the firm’s Board of Directors.
Based out of the Washington DC office, Hosey’s expertise and 25+ years of leadership will become integral to all Perkins Eastman sustainability and high-performance strategies, particularly as it moves forward with initiatives related to the AIA 2030 Commitment, which the firm signed earlier this year.
As the AIA’s response to the 2030 Challenge, which tasks committed practices to make all new buildings, developments, and major renovations carbon-neutral by 2030, Hosey’s vast experience in this arena will become an invaluable asset within the firm and to its clients. He brings with him a team of three sustainability professionals who will join later this summer.
David Hoglund FAIA, President and COO of Perkins Eastman, comments: “We are very excited to bring Lance aboard as our first CSO. As the design team leader for dozens of architecturally and environmentally ambitious projects, Lance has distinguished himself on an international level as a true visionary in sustainable, eco- conscious design.
“We are committed to improving quality of life through design and the built environment, and sustainability is a cornerstone of that goal. Having Lance join our leadership team is a giant leap forward.”
Lance Hosey currently chairs the USGBC’s LEED Advisory Committee and serves on the Advisory Group for the AIA’s Committee on the Environment (COTE). Hosey will develop and streer global efforts to investigate sustainability strategies into all of the firms activities and new work.
