Jaime Hayon designs Frames collection for Expormim
Expormim has launched Frames, a new collection designed by Jaime Hayon and inspired by Mediterranean craft.
The main set of the Frames collection includes an armchair, a room divider and a side table. In order to create the products, skilled craftsmen selected the rattan rods, curved them with heat and manually introduced them into the moulds.
Rattan is almost unique as a furniture material as it requires no additional components to function. Taking this material, Hayon created a series of frames that come together to offer comfort and flexibility.
Each screen of wicker frames a classic braiding that evokes the past, but the whole takes the sinuous forms typical of the designer and his illustrations. Hayon also takes advantage of the continuity that the rattan fibres were able to provide, while other materials would have required assembly.
The curved and organic frameworks compose both the room divider and the chair, providing warmth and comfort thanks to the flexibility of the fibres. The armchair features a structure made of natural, peeled and tinted rattan, with the seat and backrest offering different wicker mesh options such as classic or dense, and the legs available in rattan or steel.
With the latest collection, Hayon has created a new sophistication for classic Mediterranean imagery, bringing rustic charm to interiors, living the summer all year round.
