Vitra to release new products at London Design Festival
Vitra is set to be showcasing their exciting new collection at London Design Festival this year at 100% Design and launching the recent partnership with Artek in their EC1 showroom.
At 100% Design, Vitra will present new collections from Barber & Osgerby and Jasper Morrison, plus the introduction of exciting graphics and colours from Alexander Girard. The stand will reflect the fresh, contemporary designs and include carefully updated classic pieces from iconic designers.
Celebrating the recent partnership of Vitra and the innovative design company Artek, the Vitra showroom will be highlighting their shared passion for design during the festival, showcasing the harmonious integration of these two iconic design houses together in London for the first time.
The Mariposa Sofa, available to order in the UK from September 2014 is just one of the pieces that will be showcased at this year’s festival. Designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and developed in Switzerland by Vitra, the piece is characterised by appropriatness and precision. The Mariposa radiates an inviting aura of spacious comfort – and yet maintains a subtly understated presence thanks to it’s balanced proportions.
Also on the HAL product line by Jasper Morrison is a series of all-round chairs that enhance daily life with great practical value and asthetic appeal. The chair family is currently being expanded with two new members, the Rise Table and the Rotrary Tray which will be availble this year. With its continuously adjustable height, the Rise Table adapts to a wide variety of needs and situations. Thanks to its harmonious proportions, the Rise Table maintains a pleasantly understated appearance in keeping with Morrisons philosophy of ‘super normal’ design.
Jointly developed by Vitra and Antonio Citterio, the lounge chairs Repos and Grand Repos introduce a new level of comfort and flexability to any environment: with their generous padding, inviting arm rests and high backrest, these elegent swivel-based lounge chairs impart an image of supreme comfort. The synchronised mechanism concealed beneath the upholstery adjusts automatically to the user’s weight, providing flexible support and enabling the sitter to move from an upright position to a reclined angle for resting.
Futher more the Vitra showroom will launch their partnership with Artek during the festival. The Finnish design company Artek has become one of the move innovative contributors to modern design, buidling on the heritage of Alvar Aalto.
