Dominvs Hospitality announces partners for Manchester project

The team involves the IHG Holiday Inn brand as operator of the hotel, Dexter Moren Associates as interior designer and style consultants, and McAleer Rushe as building contractor.

The 306-room hotel will be complete with restaurant and conference facilities, occupying a prime position as part of the recently completed mixed-use Piccadilly Regeneration Project. The hotel will take 18 months to construct and will create 150 construction related jobs and 60 hotel related jobs, whilst boosting tourism and pioneering the regeneration of adjoining site, including the former Mayfield station and the Aytoun campus.

Martin Magee, Construction Director at McAleer Rushe commented: “This site was vacant for nearly 20 years, and was in desperate need of regeneration. Work will begin on-site imminently as there already has been a lot of detailed early-stage design input which will ensure best practice and best value construction, which leads to optimum efficiency in operation thereafter.”

The hotel is situated adjacent to Piccadilly Station, the cities foremost intercity rail and tram terminal, and more recently the station subject of a £50m refurbishment. It is also planned to be the North West terminal for the new HS2 high-speed train to London, Birmingham and Leeds.

Constructed on the formerly derelict employment exchange in Piccadilly, the hotel has been designed by Urban Innovations. It will offer four-star accommodation over eight storeys including a ground floor comprising a bar, restaurants, gym and extensive conference and banqueting facilities.

“The design of the hotel will take advantage of its central position in Manchester and canal side location. Ground floor will include a lounge bar and restaurant with the lower ground floor providing conferencing, which will spill out to a terraced platform. The bedrooms will be positioned on the upper eighth floors,” said Dexter Moren, Founder of Dexter Moren Associates.

The Manchester project will expand Dominvs Hospitality’s future room count in excess of 1200 rooms for its operational hotels and proposed developments.
