Croatia develops first Design Hotel
Forming part of Maistra’s €290m development plan in the Istrian town of Rovinj, Hotel Lone will add to the group’s growing portfolio which features the recently opened Hotel Monte Mulini designed by WATG.
Architects 3LHD Studio of Zagreb have designed Hotel Lone to respect the natural forest park in which it sits. The ground plan in the shape of the letter Y has been defined by the surrounding woodland and terrain elevations, while the height differences in the interior allow for a central vertical lobby around which the facilities are located.
For the interiors, 3LHD has collaborated with a number of Croatian designers and artists including product design group Numen, fashion designers of I-Gle Studio, and conceptual artists Ivana Franke and Silvio VujÄić.
Once complete, the hotel will offer 240 guestrooms, nine luxurious suites and a presidential suite, two restaurants, a brasserie, five bars, a conference area, and wellness centre.
Hotel Monte Mulini will be reviewed in the July / August 2009 issue of Sleeper Magazine.
