The Oberoi Group appoints Kapil Chopra as President

An alumnus of The Oberoi Centre for Learning and Development (OCLD), Chopra’s experience as a hotelier spans over 19 years, and he was voted “Hotelier of the year” by Hindustan Times in 2012.

In Chopra's previous position of Executive Vice President of the Group he was instrumental in opening the two flagship properties – The Oberoi and Trident in Gurgaon.

Under Chopra’s leadership, The Oberoi in Gurgaon was voted ‘World’s Leading Luxury Hotel’ by the World Travel Awards for the second consecutive year in 2012. The property was also awarded ‘Best Hotel for Business in India’ by Condé Nast Traveller, India, at the Readers’ Travel Awards 2012.

In addition to his career as an hotelier, Chopra writes regularly for various national and international publications and maintains a blog on Indian art-indianartinvest.blogspot.in.  An avid art collector, he also founded the country’s first e-magazine on art called ‘The Wall.’

The Oberoi Group was founded in 1934 and comprises 29 hotels under the luxury 'Oberoi' and five-star 'Trident' brands in India, Egypt, Mauritius, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.  The Group is also engaged in flight catering, managing airport restaurants, travel and tour services, car rentals, project management and corporate air charters.
